Title: File Clerk

Location: Onsite, Full Time, Monday - Friday

Pay Range: $28 -$33.42 per hour

KMRG, LLC (KMRG) is a federal services company that hires talented professionals to support Government agencies and the communities they serve. We are hiring a File Clerk to support the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Northern District of Georgia in Atlanta (NDGA).

In this role, you will support the USAO Criminal Division with the review, organization, and closeout of federal criminal case files. Your work will help ensure case records are complete, properly retained, accurately documented, and ready for long-term archiving.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys structured, detail-focused work and takes pride in keeping important records accurate and organized.

RESPONSIBILITIES Case File Review & Organization
  • Review criminal case files to determine status and identify matters ready for closeout
  • Use databases such as Case
    360, PACER, Court Links, and other Government systems to verify case information
  • Locate and organize related paper and electronic records
  • Review files against established checklists to determine which documents must be retained or removed
  • Ensure case files are complete, accurate, organized, and ready for final processing
Records Closeout & Archiving
  • Organize retained documents and prepare required case-closeout forms
  • Apply established records-retention schedules
  • Prepare files for attorney review and required signatures
  • Transfer completed physical and electronic records to the appropriate records or docketing section
  • Help prepare records for annual transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
  • Verify that closed-file locations and status are accurately reflected in Government systems
Records Tracking & Administrative Support
  • Maintain tracking lists for file status, location, and retrieval
  • Assist with filing, records cleanup, and inventory activities
  • Coordinate with attorneys and support staff to confirm case-file information
  • Help locate and retrieve records when needed
  • Perform related clerical and records-management duties in support of the Criminal Division
Confidentiality & Accuracy
  • Handle sensitive and confidential legal records appropriately
  • Follow established Department of Justice records-management and security procedures
  • Review work carefully for completeness and accuracy
  • Protect Privacy Act and other sensitive Government information
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong organizational and records-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and checklists accurately
  • Professional and tactful communication with attorneys, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to successfully complete required Government background and security screening
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 years of legal experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience with legal, administrative, records-management, document-processing, or case-file work
  • Familiarity with systems such as PACER, Case
    360, Court Links, or Net Docs
LOCATION

  • Position is performed on-site; routine telework is not available
TRAVEL
  • Travel may be required

The role requires frequent use of computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, file-storage systems, and other standard office equipment. The employee will regularly review physical and electronic records, move throughout the office to access files and records-storage areas, and may be required to lift and carry boxes, files, or records weighing up to 40 pounds.
