Job Description:

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Veteran Affairs Specialist position in the Academic and Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech’s Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under general supervision of the Director of the Student Services, Full-Time Veteran Affairs Specialist position supports daily office operations, manages the intake process, and serves as the main advisor for Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation students. This role enhances student engagement, outreach, and administrative support for benefits processing.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not limited to, the following:

Manage intake procedures for all military-affiliated students and dependents seeking benefits or center services.

Represent the Veterans Center at recruitment and outreach events, including job fairs, college fairs, and community engagements.

Plan, organize, and facilitate resource events and student activities, including the annual Veterans Day program and other key initiatives.

Support the Coordinator in the delivery of veteran-focused programming and student support services.

Develop and deliver New Student Orientation (NSO) presentations specific to military-connected learners.

Serve as advisor and main point of contact for Chapter 31-Vocational Rehabilitation students, including processing benefit certifications and managing a dedicated case load.

Collaborate with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure proper tracking and support for service members using Service-Cancelable Loans.

Assist with managing TA platforms and workflows to streamline the student experience; overseeing the Department of Defense platforms for each service branch to ensure students can successfully request funding; and Perform other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of student financial aid processes and procedures

Knowledge of college, state and federal student financial aid programs, regulations and guidelines

Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations

Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

Decision making and problem-solving skills

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

Oral and written communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and demonstrate an Associate’s degree AND Three ( 3 ) years of related work experience

Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree AND minimum of Two ( 2 ) years working with military or veteran populations, preferably in a higher education setting .
