Overview
The Inventory Coordinator is a detail-oriented role responsible for ensuring inventory availability through accurate tracking and problem resolution. This position plays a critical support function for internal stakeholders by providing timely, reliable inventory data, and responding to inquiries with a strong customer-service mindset. The ideal candidate is process-driven, analytical, and comfortable working in Excel at an advanced level to manage large datasets, identify discrepancies, and support inventory planning and decision-making.
This role reports to the Director of Distribution and Logistics.
- Monitor inventory levels and investigate and resolve variances, discrepancies, and anomalies
- Utilize advanced Excel tools (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation, macros) to analyze inventory data and produce reports
- Prepare and distribute routine and ad hoc inventory reports/communications for internal stakeholders
- Follow established inventory management processes, controls, and documentation standards
- Support internal customers by responding promptly and professionally to inventory-related questions and requests
- Utilizes data to identify and prevent problems within the supply chain
- Plan upcoming demand and build forecasts for suppliers and distribution centers
- Develop and cultivate relationships with current and potential supplier partners
- Coordinate communication between suppliers, distributors and internal stakeholders
- Investigate discrepancies to find root causes of supply chain challenges and recommend solutions
- Identify gaps in supply chain efficiency and other areas needing improvement
- Develop periodic supply chain performance reports and metrics decks to distribute to the team and other internal and external stakeholders
- Utilize historical and test data to build forecasts for future supply need
- Perform data collection, analysis and reporting to team members for decision making purposes
- Escalate inventory risks, trends, or recurring issues with clear data and recommendations
- 2-3 years of experience in a role responsible for data, analytics, and/or inventory management
- Must be extremely computer proficient (MS Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) with advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an appreciation of and attention to important details
- Strong interpersonal, written, communication and relationship-building skills
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Strong knowledge of supply chain, inventory and planning principles and concepts
- Knowledge and experience working with broad line distribution for perishable products
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- Self-starter: able to clarify ambiguity and create solutions in a fast-paced organization
- Ability to work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment
- This position does not require travel.
