Job SummaryThe Director of CPG Licensing and New Platforms is responsible for generating and managing licensing partnerships and launching new consumer‑packaged‑goods (CPG) platforms (e.g., in‑store bakeries, branded grocery platforms) to drive the Global Channel Group’s objectives and profitability.
The position creates and executes the business model, strategy, and plans to build a portfolio of licensing partnerships and product platforms that optimizes brand penetration and value while meeting profitability goals. The Director cultivates and maintains strategic relationships with existing partners (e.g., Rich’s, Golden West Food Group, Danone, J&J Snack Foods, General Mills) and develops potential licensing partnerships with additional partners.
Responsibilities- Strategic Planning and Alignment
- Collaborate with leadership to create strategy, financial models, and go‑to‑market plans for new CPG platforms.
- Lead and manage license partner relationships.
- Develop annual objectives, sales plans, and targets to secure high‑value licensing and new platform partnerships.
- Identify trends and partner feedback to capture profitable opportunities.
- Analyze IRI/Nielsen data to identify opportunities and risks.
- Track sales, manufacturing, and logistics metrics to inform future strategy.
- Champion FOCUS Brands internally and externally, building trust and support.
- Strategic Relationship Management and Solution Selling
- Develop account‑specific plans to secure profitable licensing and CPG partnership opportunities.
- Partner with current and potential CPG partners to align on growth strategies and value capture.
- Generate leads, conduct research, and deliver value‑based presentations.
- Build trusted relationships at all levels of targeted accounts.
- Work cross‑functionally with Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, and other teams to negotiate agreements that drive profitability.
- Track sales activity in the CRM for effective reporting.
- Participate in Channel’s sales funnel to align efforts and resources.
- Promote the brand at trade associations and events.
- Licensing and New CPG Platform Management
- Champion and optimize licensing and CPG platform solutions for market penetration and value.
- Prioritize opportunities and define resources, sourcing partners, and planning needed.
- Ensure adherence to licensing agreements and product approvals across cross‑functional teams.
- Provide ongoing account management and strategic partnering to resolve issues.
- Report on P&L activity, identify issues, and propose enhancements.
- Collaborate with Legal and other teams to mitigate risks and maximize ROI.
- Maintain external relationships and professional memberships for competitive intelligence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- 10+ years of combined sales and management experience in Brand Licensing and CPG sales.
- Experience creating, managing, and executing successful sales and capture plans.
- Track record of building business plans and strategic plans that exceed business development and profitability objectives.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
- Ability to develop and communicate executive‑level strategies.
- Expertise in building stakeholder relationships across various groups.
- Negotiation skills with the ability to influence and create win‑win partnerships.
- Clear articulation of brand architecture and value.
- Balance strategic focus with day‑to‑day operations.
- Planning, organization, and follow‑up skills with strong prioritization under tight deadlines.
- Strategic decision making with strong business and financial acumen.
- High drive and tenacity with proven results.
- Leadership ability to develop others’ effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
