Job Summary
The Manager of Business Development is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic initiatives that identify and secure funding opportunities to support the institution's research agenda. This role involves building and nurturing relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and philanthropic organizations, to foster collaboration and enhance research capabilities. By analyzing market trends and overseeing proposal development, the Manager of Business Development ensures alignment with institutional priorities and drives successful funding outcomes.
Sets performance goals, participates in evaluations, provides feedback, and informs compensation decisions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to identify and secure funding opportunities that support the institution's research initiatives.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, private industry, and nonprofit organizations, to enhance collaborative research efforts.
- Analyze market trends and funding landscapes to identify potential research partnerships and funding sources that align with the institution's research priorities.
- Lead the proposal development process by coordinating interdisciplinary teams, drafting proposals, and ensuring adherence to funding agency guidelines and institutional policies.
- Prepare and deliver detailed presentations and reports on business development activities, funding successes, and partnership outcomes to senior leadership and relevant committees.
- Monitor key performance indicators and evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Organize and facilitate outreach events, workshops, and networking opportunities to promote the institution's research capabilities and engage with potential funding partners.
- Provide expert guidance and training to faculty and researchers on grant writing techniques, proposal development, and effective engagement with funding organizations.
- Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
:
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
: 3+ years of relevant experience; 1+ years of supervisory knowledge.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
:
Master's Degree in related discipline; advanced certification may be preferred or required.

$80,000 to $90,000 per year.
Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience.
