Why This Role Exists
We’re growing our governance function across multiple programs—Data Governance, Information Governance, and AI Governance—each at a different point in its journey, some established and maturing, others being built from the ground up. This role offers the chance to do both: strengthen what’s working and shape what’s still being defined, moving between programs as priorities shift.
Job SummaryPartners across business, IT, privacy, security and other units to build and strengthen governance capabilities across Data, Information and AI Governance programs—from established initiatives to those still taking shape. Takes direction and runs with it, translating ambiguous or evolving needs into practical processes, documentation and tools with minimal day‑to‑day oversight.
Position Duties- Design and implement governance processes, workflows and documentation for programs across a range of maturity—from established to still forming.
- Partner with stakeholders across technical and non‑technical audiences to drive adoption.
- Operate with significant autonomy—identify gaps, propose solutions and execute without a predefined playbook.
- Flex across programs as priorities shift, applying the same core skill set to different levels of ambiguity and structure.
- Comfortable building structure from ambiguity; doesn’t wait to be told what to do.
- Self‑directed, results‑oriented, adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Experience in higher education or another complex, decentralized institutional environment.
- Exposure to governance, compliance or risk‑related work (data, information or AI).
5‑8 years of experience in business process, governance, compliance, IT business analysis or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred (any field); higher education experience as a student or employee is a plus. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience Requirements- 4 years of proven work experience designing, implementing or improving business processes, workflows or governance frameworks.
- 4 years of proven work experience partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders to drive adoption of new processes or initiatives.
- 4 years of proven work experience independently identifying gaps and building solutions without an established playbook.
- 3 years of experience with data, information, or AI governance, compliance or risk‑related work.
- Highly desired: 2 years of experience in higher education or another complex, decentralized institutional environment.
