Manager, Energy Market Development, PJM and FERC

Advanced experience owning outcomes and decision making, solving ambiguous problems and influencing stakeholders; deep expertise in domain.

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth.

You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a team responsible for driving Google's energy regulatory, market development, and policy strategy across the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) footprint and at Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • Lead a team overseeing strategic evaluations of wholesale power dynamics, transmission planning, power pricing, and emerging large-load tariffs to manage risks and capture commercial opportunities for our data center portfolio.
  • Direct team execution of energy regulatory and market engagement strategies before FERC and within PJM stakeholder committees, translating complex market rules into actionable infrastructure energy supply solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Government Affairs, Global Infrastructure, and Product leaders to co-develop federal energy policy positions aligning regional initiatives with grid reliability, affordability, and carbon-reduction goals.
  • Guide team leadership in power supply negotiations, regional utility partnerships, and broader FERC regulatory integration efforts to secure reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective energy.
