Who We Are:

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:

The Board Operations Program Manager II is the leader responsible for executing the strategy that enables the Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and all Board Committees to govern effectively. Reporting to the Director, Strategy and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role ensures the Board of Directors and Advisory Board function smoothly, stay aligned, and receive the right information at the right time.

This role manages all Board and committee operations, supports senior leaders in preparing content, and builds strong relationships with Board members to maintain engagement and clarity. Operating with high autonomy, the Program Manager, II keeps governance processes organized, accurate, and on track while also supporting cross-functional projects in development, fundraising, and strategic planning.

What You’ll Do:

Board and Committee Operations
  • Drive the planning, execution, and follow-up for all full-board and committee meetings, owning agendas, content, logistics, and post-meeting action items end to end.
  • Coordinate Board and committee meetings end-to-end, including agendas, materials, logistics, and follow-ups.
  • Prepare senior leaders by refining reports, presentations, and committee updates.
  • Maintain governance documentation including minutes, charters, policies, and the Board Manual.
  • Manage Board systems such as the Board portal, data infrastructure, and board management software.
  • Ensure meeting cadence and deadlines are met across all committees.
Cross-Functional Organizational Support
  • Partner with the President/CEO to clarify committee goals and ensure meeting content is aligned and accurate.
  • Ask strategic questions to keep committees focused and content relevant.
  • Support development and fundraising projects with coordination, documentation, and project management.
  • Assist strategic plan and risk management work through scheduling, materials preparation, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Lead special projects that strengthen organizational capacity, governance, or reputation.
Board & Advisory Board Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with Board and Advisory Board members to support communication, clarity, and engagement.
  • Coordinate Advisory Board operations including meetings, communications, and member activities.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding through scheduling, candidate communication, and orientation.
  • Plan engagement activities such as learning experiences, site visits, receptions, and volunteer events.
  • Track member participation and prepare engagement summaries or scorecards.

Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:
  • Experience supporting senior executives and governing boards
    , including meeting preparation, project coordination, and working with high-level stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects independently from planning through execution, with strong follow-through and organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and work effectively with Board members and senior leaders.
  • Experience preparing governance materials such as agendas, minutes, charters, policies, or organizational documentation.
  • High proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort using board management or collaboration software.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle confidential information with maturity and judgment.
