Location

The Child Welfare Services Case Manager I (Adoptions) position is located in Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia.

Job Description

This position has a designated special entry salary that is non‑negotiable. Shift differential supplemental pay is offered for 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts. Pay Grade: I.

Under supervision, you will learn to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for a caseload involving child abuse or neglect.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct assessments that identify and address safety concerns.
  • Address identified safety concerns by immediately developing and implementing safety plans.
  • Conduct diligent search efforts to locate the child/family when unable to make contact.
  • Implement Solution Based Casework (SBC).
  • Partner with children and parents in developing and utilizing Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Complete genograms to identify available family support networks.
  • Collaborate with community partners to create systems of support for children and families.
  • Ensure that frequency and quality of visits with children and families are adequate to ensure safety, permanency, and well‑being.
  • Identify the physical, educational, and mental/behavioral health needs of children, parents, and foster parents and ensure these needs are effectively addressed.
  • Establish permanency goals for the child(ren).
  • Ensure foster care placements and/or living situations are stable and in the best interests of the child(ren) and are consistent with achieving established permanency goals.
  • Make concerted efforts to achieve permanency for children in a timely manner consistent with regulations in the Adoptions and Safe Families Act.
  • Ensure siblings in foster care are placed together unless separation is necessary.
  • Maintain the child’s connections to neighborhood, community, faith, extended family, tribe, school, and friends.
  • Promote, support, and maintain positive relationships between children in care and their biological parents/caretakers by encouraging activities and interactions beyond visitation.
  • Document case management activities within established time frames.
  • Celebrate positive outcomes with children and families.
  • Use a privately owned vehicle for work‑related travel and duties, including transportation of children.
  • Routine after‑hours on‑call duty.
  • Embrace ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state‑issued driver’s license, and an acceptable driving history record.
Note
  • Applicants must pass the standard agency testing protocol for the position in which they are hired to maintain the position.
  • Although agency employees may telework temporarily, employees may be called into the office as needed.
