Job Description & How to Apply Below
A rapidly expanding concrete construction firm is seeking a Senior Estimator to serve as the critical technical engine and pre-construction anchor for its growing structural concrete division. This firm is currently experiencing a high volume of bid invitations and requires a high-autonomy professional to take full ownership of the estimating process.
Position ObjectiveThe Senior Estimator is a critical position designed to support the team by managing the technical estimating process. The goal for this role is to allow leadership to focus on strategic growth by taking over the "weeds" of take-offs and pricing. This is a 100% pre construction-focused role for a self-starter capable of making successful decisions without constant oversight.
Key Responsibilities- Structural Take-offs: The individual performs precise concrete structural take-offs and completes comprehensive estimates using industry-standard software.
- Bid Filtering: The Senior Estimator vets a high volume of requests to identify projects within the firm's $5M–$6M "sweet spot."
- Vendor Coordination: They obtain and analyze quotes from suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive material pricing.
- Technical Communication: This individual acts as the technical lead on client calls and provides detailed reasoning for manpower requirements and schedules to management.
- Strategic Growth: The Senior Estimator drives the process from initial bid invitation to a successful, profitable win, with the long-term goal of managing a complete estimating unit.
- Experience: A minimum of five years in estimating roles specifically focused on structural concrete is required.
- Professional Background: Candidates ideally come from a General Contractor (GC) background or a structural concrete specialist firm.
- Technical Expertise: The role requires a deep understanding of concrete-specific metrics, such as labor units per yard for foundations and slabs.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management is preferred, though 5–10 years of relevant high-level experience will be considered.
- Mindset: The firm seeks a professional with a "humble and hungry" approach and a high-ownership mentality.
- Bonus Structure: Performance-based potential up to 10% of base salary, tied to project profitability.
- Work Environment: The position is Remote/Hybrid, with occasional in-person requirements in the Kennesaw/Atlanta area.
- Health Benefits: The company covers 100% of the employee’s health insurance premium.
- Retirement: IRA plan is available with a 3% company match.
- Insurance: Options for Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability are provided.
