Company: True North Way (TNW) – Multifamily Development & Construction. TNW is a rapidly growing multifamily developer and general contractor building 1,500+ apartment units across the Southeast. We are expanding our construction leadership team and hiring a Director of Field Operations to lead our superintendents, enforce quality and safety standards, and build the operational systems that will scale our construction division long-term.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in the field, understands multifamily construction at a deep level, and can build disciplined systems across multiple job sites. The ideal candidate is a former GC superintendent manager, QA/QC director, Army Corps of Engineers NCO/officer, or senior construction safety/QC professional with a strong command presence.

Responsibilities Field Leadership & Superintendent Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop all TNW superintendents across 5–10 active job sites.
  • Conduct weekly site audits and enforce adherence to schedule, quality standards, and safety policies.
  • Ensure superintendents complete accurate daily logs, progress photos, punch lists, and inspections.
Quality Control
  • Build and implement a standardized QC system for all trades.
  • Review plans and walk job sites to verify correct installation, scope alignment, and code compliance.
  • Create and maintain trade-specific QC checklists and training materials.
Safety Program Oversight
  • Implement and enforce a comprehensive OSHA‑compliant safety program.
  • Conduct weekly safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure all subcontractors, supers, and field personnel maintain proper PPE and safety practices.
Schedule & Budget Accountability
  • Verify field progress vs. subcontractor billings and prevent overbilling.
  • Track manpower needs, sequencing issues, and material delays; report risks proactively.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation for inspections, COs, and close‑out.
System Building
  • Deploy Contractor Foreman (or similar) across all sites with high discipline.
  • Build SOPs and operational standards for all field operations.
  • Improve communication flow between office, field, subcontractors, and leadership.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with project managers on scheduling, procurement, and trade coordination.
  • Report directly to executive leadership with clear, honest assessments of site status.
  • Maintain a zero‑excuses culture of accountability, execution, and professionalism.
Requirements Experience
  • 10+ years in multifamily or commercial construction.
  • 5+ years managing multiple job sites or multiple superintendents.
  • Strong background in QC, safety, or horizontal/vertical construction.
  • Experience with Army Corps of Engineers, military engineering, or similar disciplined environments is a strong plus.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read/interpret civil, structural, architectural, and MEP plans.
  • Strong knowledge of material takeoffs, scopes of work, and sequencing.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards, inspections, and incident documentation.
  • Proficiency in construction software (Contractor Foreman, Procore, Fieldwire, etc.).
  • High accountability and strong command presence.
  • Able to train, correct, and discipline superintendents as needed.
  • Extremely organized with strong follow‑through.
Other Requirements
  • Travel 4–5 days per week across the Southeast.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to climb, walk sites, and work in field conditions.
Why TNW
  • Direct impact on building a scalable construction organization.
  • Autonomy to build systems, train people, and raise construction standards across the company.
  • Growing development pipeline with long‑term stability.
  • Company culture built on ownership, accountability, and execution.
