College Summer Internship

This is a PAID summer internship position, for college students currently enrolled in a construction related program, preferably Construction Management. This is a Full-Time summer employment commitment, and students may be expected to work some nights and weekends. Students selected, will work for C.W. Matthews for around 8 WEEKS getting valuable exposure to the heavy highway construction trade and to C.W. Matthews.

- Students that are selected for ALL internship positions MUST have:

* A driver's license

* A dependable vehicle to get them to the job site every day

If an intern works more than 40 hours in a week, they will get paid time and a half for every hour worked over 40 hours. Selected applicants will be placed in one of the company's operating divisions to begin their training in a construction trade. The duties of this position are continually changing depending on the requirements of each project.

The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties.

* Flagging traffic.

* Set up and maintenance of erosion control.

* Loading and unloading of materials.

* Shoveling and raking dirt, gravel, and asphalt.

* General clean up around job site.

* Checking and maintaining grade stakes.

* Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids.

* Operating small equipment such as a skid steer.

* General maintenance of all equipment and tools.
