CDM Smith's CEI team in Atlanta, GA is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The inspector will perform complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories: roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, or maintenance & traffic. Duties include using knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction; geometry and basic mathematics;

interpreting construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications; and communicating findings. The candidate will work under limited or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a state highway agency or a national entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Valid driver's license.
• Six years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Travel frequency contingent on duties and project demands.
• Equivalent directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Intermediate knowledge of arithmetic.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn applications quickly.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
