Assistant Project Manager - Commercial Construction
If you're early in your project management career and want more than just pushing paperwork, this is a good opportunity to actually learn how projects get built from the inside out.
I'm working with an Atlanta area commercial general contractor that's looking to bring on an Assistant Project Manager to support and grow alongside experienced PMs and field teams. This is a hands‑on role where you'll be involved in the full lifecycle of projects—not just one piece of it.
What you'll be doing- Support projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Help manage submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
- Assist with subcontractor coordination and communication
- Track budgets, change orders, and project costs
- Stay involved with scheduling and project updates
- Communicate with clients, design teams, and internal staff
- Spend time both in the office and on‑site to understand how things come together in the field
- 1–5 years of experience in commercial construction (APM, Project Engineer, or similar)
- Basic understanding of construction processes and documentation
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to keep multiple things moving at once
- Comfortable communicating with different personalities—field and office
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is helpful but not required
- Real exposure to how projects are run—not just a support role
- Mentorship from experienced PMs and field leaders
- A clear path into a full Project Manager role
- Stable pipeline of commercial work and a team that keeps things practical
