Superintendent 4
The Superintendent 4 is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve safe, timely and profitable completion of each project. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
Major duties and responsibilities include all responsibilities expected of the Superintendent 3, implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies, direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force, review and approval of trade contractor pay applications and material invoices with the Project Manager, development and maintenance of a site logistics plan in coordination with the Project Manager, management of quality program, coordination of site testing and inspection reports, monitoring of costs including labor time and material, management of self-perform features of work, management of the CPM schedule and look ahead schedules, development/coordination/execution of Safety, Hazcom, SWPPP, QA/QC plan, etc, attendance and leadership of portions of project meetings, creation of daily reports and report quantities, assistance with the Preconstruction/Estimating phase of the project, mobilization of the site and setup of utilities, assurance of necessary permits and inspections, review and verification of RFIs, review and approval of submittals for processing, and conducting oneself in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work.

Job skills and abilities guidelines include commitment to a culture of safety, personality traits common to The Way We Work, good understanding of the industry, good understanding of QA/QC, good understanding of MEP systems, ability to read and develop a project schedule, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to function effectively as a member of a team, good leadership skills, strong and proactive decision-making/problem-solving skills, computer knowledge and efficiency including Microsoft Office products, excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to review and understand submittals and shop drawings, proficiency in writing and processing RFIs, document revisions, and recognizing changes of scope and need for pricing, ability to effectively lead teams through projects of high complexity, and ability to manage a team with 1-2 Assistant/area superintendents.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree
- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis, 12 years of industry experience, and has led at least 3-5 projects or run multiple complex projects of varying size projects to be determined by regional operations.
Working conditions and physical efforts include being adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traversing and inspecting all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching. Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day. Ability to repeat the same movements. Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence. Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time. Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License). Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
