S&ME is seeking an eager and dedicated full‑time entry‑level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Atlanta, GA
.
This entry‑level position is great for those looking to learn and grow in a hands‑on environment. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician
, you will primarily work outdoors, contributing to projects and ensuring safety and integrity. Your hard work will be rewarded as you see projects come to life and gain valuable experience.
- Reviewing plans specifications and Documentation – Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and testing results related to construction materials.
- Utilizing Metafield – Utilize field and laboratory information management systems efficiently for data organization.
- Equipment – Maintain accuracy of field and laboratory tools to meet industry standards.
- Special Inspection observations – Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
- Communicate with stakeholders – Engage with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns.
- You have a High School diploma/GED.
- You have 0‑2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.
- You have one(1) or more active certifications, a plus:
American Concrete Institute (ACI):
Field Testing Grade I;
Strength Testing Technician;
Laboratory Technician
International Code Council (ICC):
Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete. - You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language.
- You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
- You can proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email.
- Work outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.
- Walk over rough and uneven terrain.
- Stand up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion.
- Routinely lift and carry 40‑50 lbs (field/lab samples and equipment).
- Maneuver field equipment safely (e.g., a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
- Travel out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary.
- Work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
