Senior Resident Engineer (MEP)
Jacobs is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer (MEP) to join our team in the Atlanta, GA office. In this role you will be the manager of large-scale complex construction contracts responsible for coordinating efforts of the contractors during construction, closeout, and occupancy.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the efforts of the contractors.
- Evaluating the progress and quality of construction activities in conformance with approved schedules and budgets.
- Review and approval of progress payments.
- Monitoring and supervising the field coordination and inspection.
- Reviewing bid package documents as issued by design consultants for constructability, omissions, clarifications required, and for coordination between design disciplines. Recommending changes as required.
- Reviewing all construction documents against design development documents for scope, schedule and budget conformance.
- Reviewing General Conditions to suit each bid package and overseeing performance.
- Assisting the client and Project Manager at pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings.
- Expediting resolution of construction problems.
- Monitoring and managing all field directives.
- Obtaining Daily Reports from all contractors. Preparing Resident Engineer's Weekly Report.
- Overseeing Quality Assurance Program for each assigned contract in concert with the Quality Assurance Manager. Monitoring design consultant inspections.
- Establishing and conducting weekly construction meetings.
- Managing schedule updates, providing and approving any logic changes.
- Administering construction contracts for assigned contracts.
- Reviewing, approving, and certifying contractor requests for payment.
- Determining that insurance, bonding and contracts requirements are properly executed and maintained.
- Coordinating separate contractors' lay down areas, office locations, and equipment placements.
- Coordinating construction interface with local utilities through the Utility/Agency Coordinator.
- Overseeing negotiation, preparation of and review all Change Orders.
- Overseeing project close out and client occupancy.
- Other tasks as may be assigned.
Here's what you'll need:
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in the administration of construction contracts and in the inspection of construction work in the field. Must have worked on a relevant construction project in a minimum capacity of Resident Engineer.
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple project delivery methods, including but not limited to Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and CMR contracts and their execution.
- Knowledge of and experience in reviewing and understanding a contractor's Safety Plan and QC Plan. Must also have experience in reviewing and overseeing a Document Control Plan, and development/utilization of a Project Procedures Manual.
- Previous experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a CM field staff including multiple Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project/Office Engineers, Document Control Clerks, and Field Inspectors.
- Knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software (such as PMWeb, P6, Microsoft Office package, and others).
