Position SummaryOur civil division is seeking an experienced Utility / Heavy Civil Estimator to join our regional group. This role focuses on the detailed elements of estimating including quantity take-offs, self-perform cost analysis, subcontractor and vendor scopes, schedule sequencing, risk evaluation, and bid deliverables. A strong understanding of these elements will support strategic markup and risk management decisions. The position also involves active communication and relationship building within the industry to support business growth.
JobFunctions
- Prepare detailed estimates, including quantity take-offs, self-perform costs, subcontractor scopes, vendor requests, risks, sequence, schedule, and bid deliverables.
- Apply detailed understanding of estimating elements to develop markup and risk strategies.
- Solicit and communicate effectively with subcontractors, vendors, agencies, and clients.
- Build and maintain industry relationships within the marketplace to support project acquisition.
- Use estimating software and tools including B2W Estimate, Agtek, Bluebeam, and Trimble Business Center as needed.
- Work in a hybrid environment, supporting bid projects both remotely and in-office.
- 3 years of previous experience in the Utility / Heavy Civil marketplace.
- Direct experience with estimating processes.
- Field experience is considered a plus.
- Proficiency with B2W Estimate, Agtek, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Trimble Business Center software packages is a plus (training is available).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to organize bid documents, quotes, and take-off results.
- Ability to prioritize tasks under tight timelines.
- Capacity to manage multiple competing priorities in an accurate and timely manner.
- Must operate with a high sense of urgency.
