We are hiring an experienced Resident Engineer to support the program at Atlanta International Airport. This role will oversee multi‑disciplinary teams and drive construction projects to successful completion.
Position OverviewThe Resident Engineer will review contractor performance, ensure compliance with contract terms, standards, and technology, and supervise technical aspects of construction management assignments. Experience with airport construction is required and willingness to relocate is expected.
What You’ll Be Doing- Perform difficult and complex field engineering and construction management assignments, including development, execution, supervision, and coordination of technical aspects of a construction project.
Significant mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) experience desired. - Coordinate contractor efforts.
- Evaluate progress and quality of construction activities against approved schedules and budgets.
- Review and approve progress payments.
- Monitor and supervise field coordination and inspection.
- Review bid package documents for constructability, omissions, clarifications, and coordination between design disciplines; recommend changes as required.
- Review all construction documents against design development documents for scope, schedule, and budget conformance.
- Review General Conditions to suit each bid package and oversee performance.
- Assist the client and Project Manager at pre‑bid and pre‑construction meetings.
- Expedite resolution of construction problems.
- Monitor and manage all field directives.
- Obtain daily reports from all contractors.
- Prepare Resident Engineer’s weekly report.

Area Construction Manager or Senior Resident Engineer. - Supervise:
Assistant Resident Engineer, Project/Office Engineer, Document Control Clerk, Field Inspectors. - Oversee Quality Assurance Program for each assigned contract in concert with the Quality Assurance Manager; monitor design consultant inspections.
- Establish and conduct weekly construction meetings.
- Manage schedule updates; provide and approve any logic changes.
- Administer construction contracts for assigned contracts.
- Review, approve, and certify contractor requests for payment.
- Maintain first‑level quality assurance to confirm installation of all work within discipline follows plans, specifications, and industry standards; supervise construction engineering work and provide technical expertise for one or more construction engineering disciplines.
- Ensure tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented per approved procedures.
- Collaborate with construction contractors and the Owner’s team to eliminate hazards associated with the work and ensure safe practices per site‑specific safety procedures.
- Establish liaison with design engineering staff; review and interpret design drawings and specifications to ensure correct technical execution.
- Manage resolution for technical engineering problems and coordinate application of solutions.
- Develop and review construction schedules; monitor progress; provide schedule and progress appraisal reports to the Program Manager and the Client.
- Monitor material procurement and deliveries to support construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline; ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards.
- Initiate and lead project closeout throughout the lifetime of a project; support implementation of the Operational Readiness and Transition (ORAT) plan as projects conclude and new facilities become operational.
- Maintain cost and change management records, progress reports, project records, etc., as required.
- Interface with the client, upper‑level management, and stakeholders at a major airport, coordinating construction activities in an active aircraft movement area environment.
