Position Summary McKnight International is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support public‑sector parks, recreation, building, and capital improvement projects throughout the greater Houston area. This position is responsible for providing construction management oversight during project delivery, including contractor coordination, quality assurance, schedule monitoring, documentation management, and communication with project team members. The ideal candidate possesses strong construction management experience and the ability to manage multiple construction activities while supporting project delivery objectives.
RequirementsConstruction Management
- Provide construction management oversight for assigned construction projects
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, inspectors, and project team members
- Review project progress and identify construction issues or potential risks
- Conduct field observations and document construction progress
- Monitor project schedules and construction milestones
- Assist with contractor pay application reviews
- Review RFIs, submittals, and change order requests
- Maintain project documentation, meeting minutes, reports, and correspondence
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities
- Monitor contractor compliance with project safety requirements
- Attend and facilitate regularly scheduled project meetings
- Prepare project status reports and construction updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum eight (8) years of construction management, construction inspection, project management, engineering, or related infrastructure experience
- Experience supporting public‑sector, municipal, infrastructure, building, or capital improvement projects
- Experience reviewing RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders
- Strong knowledge of construction plans, specifications, contract documents, and construction practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites
Preferred Experience
- Parks and recreation construction projects
- Public building construction
- Construction inspection
- Owner's representative experience
- Experience supporting public‑sector, municipal, county, state, or other government‑funded capital improvement projects
Preferred Certifications
- CCM (Certified Construction Manager)
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- OSHA Training Certifications
- Other construction or project management certifications
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Construction Documentation Systems
- Project Management Software Document Management Systems
- Scheduling Software (Preferred)
Physical, Schedule & Eligibility Requirements
- Part‑time on‑site position
- Ability to travel between project sites as required
- Must be available to attend project sites approximately three to five times per week
- Must attend regularly scheduled project meetings
- Frequent field visits and outdoor work required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and be able to pass all required background clearances
Compensation Compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process and will be based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and relevant construction management experience.
