Location: Atlanta/Remote (with moderate travel for industry outreach and client meetings)
Reporting To: Senior Mass Timber Specialist & Director of Sales
About the Role & TeamWe are looking for a Mass Timber Specialist to join our sharp, hard‑working, and highly professional team. We are deeply passionate about sustainable building alternatives and work directly with the industry to substitute traditional steel and concrete structures with premium mass timber solutions.
This is not a traditional commodity or lumber sales role. We are seeking a technical professional from the AEC space, someone who can seamlessly bridge the gap between structural design and commercial execution. You will act as a technical advisor, building deep, credibility‑based relationships across the commercial building construction industry.
What You Will DoLead Project Formations:
Evaluate architectural and structural plans to identify smart, value‑engineered structural alternatives to steel and concrete.
Cultivate Key Relationships:
Build and maintain high‑value, peer‑to‑peer relationships with developers, architects, structural engineers, and general contractors (GCs) to position us as the preferred mass timber partner.
Drive Regional Strategy:
Partner directly with the Senior Mass Timber Specialist and the Director of Sales to execute growth strategies, utilizing technical estimating, engineering, and consultation tools.
Champion the Product:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients. You will provide product specifications, present detailed structural quotes, conduct technical lunch‑and‑learns, and guide clients through to a closed contract.
Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Serve as a reliable sales and technical resource, working hand‑in‑hand with our internal estimating and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Degree: A BA/BS or higher in Structural/Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is highly preferred, providing the foundation to speak confidently with complex design teams.
Core Experience (Strict Requirements)Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on experience in AEC (Architecture, Engineering, or Building Construction Project Management).
If you do not have an engineering or architecture background, you must have at least 2 years of direct experience managing projects in building construction (commercial, multi‑family, institutional, etc.).
Structural Familiarity: 2+ years of experience actively reading, analyzing, and understanding complex building structural plans, layouts, or shop drawings.
Note: Prior Mass Timber experience is an excellent bonus, but it is not required. If you deeply understand building structures (steel, concrete, or light‑frame), we will train you on our specific mass timber product line.
Key SkillsetsAEC Technical Literacy:
Ability to confidently open a structural drawing package, understand load paths, manufacturing/fabrication constraints, and building envelopes.
AEC‑Specific Commercial Exposure:
Experience participating in early‑stage project budgeting, estimating, bids, or leading technical sales meetings within the building construction lifecycle.
Communication:
Exceptional technical communication skills, including the ability to present complex structural options to GCs, engineers, and architects.
Tools:
Familiarity with design, documentation, or CRM tools (ZOHO preference) to manage pipelines and project details.
This role requires specific commercial building experience; candidates with a background exclusively in Civil Infrastructure (roads, bridges, heavy civil, water treatment) will not be considered.
We are not looking for general commodity sales, lumber yard management, lumber trading, or non‑AEC marketing/promoter backgrounds. Your sales/commercial exposure must be strictly rooted within technical architectural or building construction workflows.
