Commercial Construction Project Manager - Atlanta, GA (in office and in the field)

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to join their growing team. This individual will oversee commercial and residential construction projects from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong relationships with clients and project teams, and has a proven track record managing commercial construction projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Preconstruction
  • Develop detailed project estimates and budgets while partnering with estimators, architects, engineers, and clients during the preconstruction phase.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Identify project risks early and implement strategies to minimize schedule and budget impacts.
  • Secure all required permits, licenses, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services to support project timelines.
  • Lead all phases of commercial construction projects from kickoff through final completion.
  • Manage subcontractors, field personnel, suppliers, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, productivity, and quality while proactively resolving issues and minimizing delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, schedules, and project reports.
Client & Team Communication
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Provide regular project updates, budget reports, and schedule status to clients and company leadership.
  • Resolve client concerns and project challenges in a professional and timely manner while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor project costs and financial performance to ensure projects remain on budget and achieve profitability goals.
  • Prepare, review, and manage change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with the Accounting team on project billings, payment applications, collections, and project financial reporting.
  • Review job cost reports and forecast project performance through completion.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • 8–10+ years of Project Management experience in commercial and/or residential construction.
  • Experience managing projects within a general contractor, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or residential construction environment is highly preferred.
  • High-rise and multifamily construction experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through both preconstruction and construction execution
    .
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously from preconstruction through project completion.
Skills
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Solid understanding of commercial construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, contracts, and safety regulations.
  • Experience with project management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
Preferred Certifications
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • LEED AP
  • OSHA Certification
  • Other industry-related certifications are a plus.
