Superintendent 2, Industrial/Manufacturing

The role supports delivering projects with diverse teams and striving for excellence in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Role Responsibilities
- Core
  • Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and promotes an injury-free environment; investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed.
  • Manages subcontractors and organizes overall job workflow.
  • Manages and oversees project staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for small to large projects.
  • Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinates site care, custody and control; leads meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
  • Attends and participates in progress and project OAC meetings; manages project schedule with the Project Manager.
  • Tracks and monitors budget and costs using project management system reports.
  • Communicates key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors, and other departments.
  • Maintains project filing and documentation; updates drawings, logs and inspection notebooks.
  • Approves unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports and tracking reports.
  • Evaluates progress on self-perform work and adjusts as needed.
  • Manages material and equipment needs for the project.
  • Supports procurement processes and cost control activities.
  • Assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform operations.
  • Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and cost codes.
  • Ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and external resources.
  • Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect and authorities.
  • Contributes to project pursuit planning and lifecycle management; partners with field leadership for staffing and scheduling.
  • Participates in negotiations with owners and architects to gain agreement on project changes.
  • Prepares and presents for project reviews and key meetings; participates in buy-out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Understands and applies the terms of owner and subcontractor contracts; identifies and recruits top talent; promotes diversity and inclusion.

  • Manages complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.
  • Oversees management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on projects or project portions.
  • Identifies, understands and actively manages project risks.
  • Uses experience and knowledge to identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Coordinates deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics.
  • Participates in project pursuits and negotiations for project changes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and on time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (intermediate).
  • Ability to conduct effective presentations (intermediate).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (intermediate).
  • Understanding of construction management fundamentals and project processes.
  • Ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Proficiency in project management and accounting software (intermediate).
  • Proficiency in JE Dunn construction technology and scheduling software (intermediate).
  • Ability to apply Lean processes and philosophy (intermediate).
  • Knowledge of trades, self-perform work, labor productivity, budgets and profitability.
  • Understanding of document changes and their impact on schedules; collaboration skills.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred).
Experience
  • 5+ years construction experience.
  • 3+ years field supervision experience.
  • Experience with Lean principles (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May require travel and/or relocation; may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
  • Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
  • Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
