Director of Preconstruction

A highly respected, Top ENR, 100% Employee owned general contractor is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to join its growing Atlanta, Georgia team and play a key leadership role within its Data Center and Mission Critical division.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced preconstruction professional with a background in data center construction to lead complex pursuits, oversee preconstruction strategy, and serve as a key link between clients, design teams, estimating, and operations.

• Lead and oversee the preconstruction process for complex, large-scale data center and mission-critical projects.
• Manage projects from initial concept and feasibility through estimating, design development, procurement, and GMP.
• Provide strategic leadership on estimating, budgeting, value engineering, constructability, and project delivery strategy.
• Lead and mentor preconstruction and estimating teams, establishing best practices and maintaining high standards throughout the process.
• Work closely with clients, owners, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop project strategy and maintain strong relationships.
• Lead subcontractor engagement, scope development, bid solicitation, leveling, and procurement strategy.
• Review and oversee conceptual estimates, cost plans, schedules, and budgets for major pursuits.
• Partner closely with operations and project leadership to ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction through project execution.
• Support business development and pursuit strategy, including client presentations, interviews, and proposals.
• Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes through value engineering, alternative delivery strategies, and early trade partner engagement.
• Provide leadership and strategic input on go/no-go decisions and major project pursuits.

• Significant experience in commercial construction preconstruction and estimating.
• Proven experience leading preconstruction efforts for large-scale data center or mission-critical projects

• Strong understanding of data center construction, MEP systems, critical infrastructure, and complex project delivery.
• Experience managing or mentoring preconstruction and estimating teams.
• Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, cost modelling, budgeting, GMP development, and value engineering.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and internal operations.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
