Freese and Nichols is seeking a Senior Construction Manager – Professional Engineer in Houston or Pearland, Texas to lead construction management for large-diameter pipeline projects in the Houston area. As Senior Construction Manager, you will provide technical and project leadership from preconstruction through closeout, guide project teams and build strong relationships with owners,contractors and design teams. You will also regularly drive to construction sites throughout the Houston area.
WhatYou’llDo
Lead construction management for large, complex pipeline projects, serving as project manager or technical lead and coordinating internal teams,consultants and contractors
Oversee construction observation and inspection activities, including material sampling and testing, quantitymeasurementsand resolution of nonconforming work
Review contractor work for compliance with contract documents and coordinate interpretations, requests for information,submittalsand construction issues with design teams
Manage change and field orders, construction schedules, claims, pay requests, constructionmeetingsand project closeout activities
Facilitate pre-bid, preconstruction and construction meetings andmaintainclear communication among owners,contractors and project teams
Advise clients on construction needs, project risks and delivery decisions whilemaintaininga long-term relationship focus
Lead and develop staff through work planning, coaching, performancefeedbackand day-to-day direction
Support business development, teamingrelationshipsand risk management efforts for construction projects
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
15+ years of relevant construction experience serving as a construction manager or superintendent
Proficiency with project management information systems and the ability to mentor others in their use
Strong written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of alternative project delivery methods
Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) certification
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
Experience leading construction management for large-diameter pipeline projects
Experience working with owners, contractors,subcontractors and multidisciplinary design teams
