This role is designed for a technical expert with a refined artistic eye—someone who can bridge the gap between creative editorial and the final color-graded master. As a Finishing Editor, you are the final guardian of the project’s integrity, ensuring that every frame, VFX shot, and credit is perfectly aligned before the world sees it.

I. Technical Conform & Mastering
  • Conform Mastery: Utilize client-provided metadata and reference media to assemble high-resolution timelines in DaVinci Resolve
    . You will ensure that the final edit is frame-accurate to the creative editor’s offline cut.
  • VFX Management: Handle the “drop-in” of VFX shots as they arrive from various vendors. You will track versions, coordinate turnovers, and ensure that every visual effect is integrated seamlessly.
  • Mastering & Rendering: Manage the final rendering of multiple versions for broadcast, streaming, or theatrical distribution. This includes creating archives and ensuring that all final deliverables meet strict technical specifications.
  • Color Support: Provide direct editorial support to the Finishing Colorist by preparing timelines, performing color tracing, and maintaining project integrity throughout the grading process.
II. Client Relations & Quality Control (QC)
  • Supervised Sessions: Participate in and lead client-attended sessions, including QC reviews and VFX check-offs. You will provide professional, solutions-oriented support to directors, producers, and cinematographers.
  • Confidence Checks: Generate “confidence check” Quick Times for client review, ensuring accuracy and consistency even with limited input from the original creative team.
  • QC Fixes: Implement technical fixes identified during Quality Control, such as dead pixel removal, logo replacements, or frame repairs.
III. Creative Support & Utility
  • Basic Compositing: Utilize tools like Adobe After Effects or Blackmagic Fusion for basic retouching, clean-up, titling, and motion graphics.
  • Workflow Optimization: Regularly provide recommendations to improve facility workflow efficiency and pipeline processes.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate project status to producers, identifying potential risks, “blockers,” or technical hurdles before they impact the schedule.
Candidate Profile:
What You Bring

We are looking for a veteran of the post-production pipeline—someone who understands the “why” behind color science and the “how” of complex media management.

Experience & Core Proficiencies
  • Background: Prior experience in post-production as a Finishing or Conform Editor, with a deep understanding of dailies workflows and high-end finishing pipelines.
  • Primary Toolset: Advanced proficiency in DaVinci Resolve is mandatory. You should also be comfortable navigating Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Technical Expertise: Thorough knowledge of codecs, file formats, HDR workflows, and color science. You should be an expert at troubleshooting media and system-level issues.
  • Eye for Detail: A foundational understanding of color correction and an exceptional eye for image quality, continuity, and technical glitches.
