Salary Range: $17.00 To $17.00 Hourly

Are you passionate about history, people, and creating memorable guest experiences? The Atlanta History Center is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Guest Engagement Ambassador (GEA) to welcome visitors and help bring the History Center’s stories, historic houses, exhibitions, and gardens to life. GEAs serve as an important part of the guest experience by providing friendly assistance, sharing information, supporting tours and programs, and helping guests make the most of their visit.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, learning, and working in a dynamic museum environment.

The ideal candidate is friendly, enthusiastic, adaptable, and comfortable working with the public. GEAs work collaboratively with other team members and may work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guest Experience
  • Welcome and orient guests to the Atlanta History Center and Goizueta Gardens.
  • Provide information about historic houses, exhibitions, gardens, events, programs, and membership.
  • Lead tours of historic houses, exhibitions, and gardens.
  • Engage guests in conversations and help them plan their visit.
  • Answer general questions about the Atlanta History Center and Atlanta.
  • Process admission, group, school, and other ticket sales.
  • Process Museum Shop sales and restock merchandise.
  • Handle cash and complete daily ticketing and transaction reconciliation.
  • Operate ticketing and point-of-sale systems.
  • Promote membership and explain membership benefits.
  • Provide reception services, including answering and directing telephone calls when needed.
  • Assist with opening and closing exhibitions and public spaces.
  • Operate the Cyclorama film as needed.
Historic Houses & Exhibition Interpretation
  • Develop knowledge of the historic houses and exhibitions, their content, collections, and interpretive themes.
  • Provide accurate, engaging, and informative historical interpretation to visitors.
  • Conduct scheduled tours, demonstrations, and special programs.
  • Adapt presentations and interactions to different audiences.
  • Maintain knowledge of approved interpretive materials and program updates.
  • Assist with historic house and exhibit opening/closing.
  • Assist with collections care, cleaning, and general operations.
  • Support private events and special programs.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors as required.
Events & Evening Programs
  • Support evening, weekend, and special events.
  • Staff registration and check-in areas.
  • Welcome guests and manage event entry.
  • Process event ticketing and Museum Shop transactions.
  • Conduct guided tours of exhibits and historic houses.
  • Monitor designated entry areas and follow security procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Security team as needed.
General Responsibilities
  • Participate in required training and professional development.
  • Follow all safety, health, emergency, and security procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Wear the approved uniform while working.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments and team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience or experience working with the public preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide friendly and professional customer service.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work environments.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
  • Ability to learn and communicate historical and interpretive information.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work at least three days per week, including weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Evening availability required based on event and programming schedules.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of:
