Job SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting students, faculty, and residents with supplies and instruments for all patient care activity and/or pre‑clinical activity. It includes electronic inventory control of supplies, equipment and dental instruments, charge slip accountability, minor equipment repairs, and collection and processing of dirty instruments. The role maintains the order of storage rooms, supplies for clinics, dispensaries, and clinical labs, ensuring the integrity of the inventory system.
Responsibilities- Maintain instruments: Issue instruments and supplemental supplies for all clinical activities. Ensure proper scanning of instruments to students, residents and faculty. Transport carts to clinic. Maintain accurate records of items checked out from dispensary and/or purchased by students. Ensure timely return of items. Notify students of instruments not returned. Pick up unused instruments from mailboxes and clinic clean rooms daily.
- Maintain equipment and supplies: Maintain equipment and supplies for labs and clinics. Check equipment to ensure it is working properly. Inventory clinic supply rooms and order supplies through Central Supply as needed. Deliver and stock clinic supply rooms, maintaining accurate usage records.
- Inventory control: Perform electronic inventory control of supplies, equipment and dental instruments. Sustain inventory levels of instruments and supplies stored in the dispensary. Unpack, store, label, and distribute items as needed.
- Organize and maintain rooms: Organize and maintain all rooms associated with the dispensary and supply rooms within the clinic for accurate inventory count for the new electronic inventory system. Count supplies and enter the numbers into the system.
- Loss control: Ensure broken items are sent to ICR and recorded in the computer system. Conduct scheduled cleaning of walls, floors, counters and equipment to maintain cleanliness.
- Maintain supplemental instruments: Prepare, distribute, and collect supplemental instruments used for boards. Assist participants on board with patient care supplies and equipment needs.
- Other duties: Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, or GED, or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization and two years of experience in a customer service setting with a basic understanding of inventory control.
- Graduation from a Dental Assisting Program with two years of experience in dental assisting.
- Knowledge: Principles of infectious disease transmission, infection prevention and control, dental instruments, supplies, equipment, and procedures. Basic computer skills.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize daily work to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate with dental assistants, students, staff and faculty to ensure supply and instrument needs are met.
- Shift: Monday–Friday (occasional weekends 3–4 times per year).
- Pay Band: B3.
- Salary:
Minimum $16.54/hour; commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum–midpoint). - Recruitment Period:
