Our client, a highly respected architecture and interior design firm, is seeking a Senior Interior Designer with experience in the commercial interior design experience and a background in commercial projects and experience in aviation projects. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team where you'll play a key role in leading complex projects from concept through construction while mentoring junior designers and helping shape innovative, functional environments.
The ideal candidate is a creative, technically proficient designer with exceptional project management skills and experience delivering airport terminals, aviation support facilities, airline lounges, or other aviation‑related commercial projects.
Responsibilities- Lead interior design projects through all phases, including programming, concept development, space planning, design development, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
- Develop thoughtful, innovative design solutions that balance functionality, aesthetics, client goals, and operational requirements.
- Produce and oversee high-quality design presentations, material palettes, finish selections, furniture specifications, and detailed construction documentation.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.
- Manage commercial interior projects and aviation projects simultaneously while coordinating schedules, budgets, and project milestones.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients throughout the design and construction process.
- Coordinate consultant drawings and ensure complete, accurate documentation.
- Attend project meetings, client presentations, site visits, and construction observations as required.
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve design and construction challenges.
- Mentor and support junior designers while fostering a collaborative and creative studio environment.
- Promote strategic thinking, technical excellence, and innovative design solutions across project teams.
- Assist with quality control reviews and uphold documentation standards throughout all project phases.
- 5–10+ years of professional interior design experience, experience in aviation projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related design discipline required.
- Understanding of airport terminal planning, passenger experience, aviation operational requirements, and commercial interior environments.
- Extensive experience preparing detailed construction documents and coordinating consultant drawings.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead projects independently from concept through construction.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills with the ability to effectively present design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently while contributing to multidisciplinary teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit (BIM)
- Strong working knowledge of Sketch Up
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
, including Photoshop - Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with construction documentation, detailing, specifications, and consultant coordination
- Professional registration (NCIDQ or Registered Interior Designer) is preferred but not required.
- Experience with airport terminals, airline facilities, aviation lounges, or other aviation‑related projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams on large, complex commercial projects.
- Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
