Description

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invites interested applicants for a faculty level position in the Endocrine/Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Health Program of the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has a strong embedded endocrine service caring for hematology, oncology and stem cell transplant patients. Endocrine providers lead the Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Health Program and the Thyroid Cancer Program and provide endocrine care in the Cancer Survivor and Neuro‑Oncology multidisciplinary clinics.

In addition, a general endocrine clinic is available in Aflac. The current endocrine team consists of 2 endocrinologists, 1 nurse practitioner, and 3 nurses. We are seeking an additional endocrinologist to assist in expansion of existing services.

Qualified candidates should be a Board Certified/Eligible Endocrinologist, with preference given to applicants who wish to continue a career focused on endocrine/reproductive health care in hematology/oncology patients. While this is a clinically‑focused position, research commitment is possible depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Faculty rank will depend on experience and accomplishments.

The successful candidate will join one of the nation’s leading pediatric hematology/oncology programs, which includes more than 130 faculty and 50 advance practice providers (APPs).

  • The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center cares for approximately 500 new cancer diagnoses annually, 2,500 survivors, and 2,000 patients with sickle cell. The program performs about 80 stem cell transplants each year and has a rapidly expanding cellular and gene therapy program.
  • Each year, the Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Health Team provides approximately 170 fertility consultations before and after cancer treatment and facilitates oocyte, ovarian tissue, and sperm cryopreservation.
  • Each year, the endocrine Team provides 750 clinic visits within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
  • The multidisciplinary Thyroid Cancer Program sees about 15 new diagnoses a year and follows approximately 85 youth after treatment for thyroid cancer.
Requirements
  • MD, MD/PhD or DO degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Endocrinology
  • Current physician license or eligibility in the state of Georgia
  • History of clinical excellence/achievement

Salary and faculty rank at Emory University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The primary focus of this position will have an emphasis on clinical outpatient service and administrative duties.
