Position OverviewAtlanta Youth Academy seeks a mission-driven, relational, and instructional leader to serve as its next Dean of Academy, the school’s principal-level academic leader. Reporting to the President and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Dean provides visionary and operational leadership for all academic programs from Pre-K through Grade 8.
This is an opportunity to lead during an important period of institutional growth and professionalization. The Dean will shape academic strategy, strengthen instructional systems, mentor faculty, and ensure that AYA’s Christ-centered mission is realized consistently across curriculum, teaching practice, and student culture. The role is ideal for a servant leader who brings both clarity and compassion to academic leadership and is eager to make a lasting impact in a mission-driven school community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic oversight of academic programs from Pre-K through Grade 8
- Ensure curriculum alignment with AYA’s mission and Christian worldview
- Lead faculty recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and professional growth
- Monitor student performance and growth using data-informed practices
- Oversee student culture, behavior systems, and academic support structures
- Communicate clearly and consistently with families and stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with the President and senior leadership team on school-wide priorities
- Foster a disciplined, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to Christian faith and mission-driven education
- Bring at least five years of successful educational leadership experience (independent or mission-driven school experience preferred)
- Possess deep expertise in curriculum, instruction, and faculty development
- Balance strategic vision with hands-on leadership and daily presence
- Lead with humility, relational strength, and emotional intelligence
- Build trust across a leadership team that includes long-serving leaders and newer faculty
- Hold a master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field is preferred but not required
