Base Pay Range$26,534.00/yr - $42,355.00/yr
License and Certification QualificationsParaprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) required (we will assist you in navigating how to acquire this).
Education QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment (prior to March 1, 2007) or the GACE Parapro Assessment required. In lieu of assessments, 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a PSC approved college or university are required.
Experience QualificationsExperience in a licensed child care environment preferred.
Skills QualificationsKnowledge of child development; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; effective interpersonal skills; knowledge of office and media equipment; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Primary Responsibilities- Support instruction and student learning under the direction of the teacher by reinforcing IEP goals, adapting classroom activities, and providing individualized or small group assistance.
- Assist students with personal care, mobility, and daily living needs (e.g., feeding, toileting, hygiene, transferring, etc.) to ensure their comfort, safety, and access to learning.
- Monitor and support student behavior in various settings (classroom, lunchroom, playground, community) to maintain a positive and safe environment.
- Collect and record data on student progress and behavior as directed by the supervising teacher or IEP team.
- Provide physical or behavioral assistance during emergencies or crisis situations using approved intervention procedures.
- Collaborate regularly with teachers and school staff to implement instructional and behavioral plans and communicate student progress or concerns.
- Assist with supervision duties such as hallways, buses, and lunch areas as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as needed to support the educational and developmental needs of students with disabilities.
