Alex at Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated candidate for its Adjunct Instructor – Paralegal Studies (Part-Time) position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Business and Public Service Technologies department. This position is located on ATC’s Main campus, just south of downtown Atlanta, GA.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Business and Public Service Technologies, the Adjunct Instructor – Paralegal Studies (Part-Time) provides professional instruction to students in the Paralegal Studies Program in accordance with an approved course syllabus, ensuring that course outcomes align with stated objectives, and prepares curriculum materials and syllabi for assigned coursework. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.
  • Completes all reports and records in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the Paralegal studies field.
  • Follows approved course syllabus.
  • Responsible for teaching and monitoring students.
  • Monitors the use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Advises and counsels students regarding course requirements and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
  • Assists with student recruitment and job placement as directed by division dean.
  • Serves on committees as directed and coordinated by division dean.
  • Attends meetings as required and appropriate.
  • Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
  • Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy manual.
  • Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working as or with paralegals, in the public or private sector.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree or Professional Doctorates from an accredited college or university.
  • Attorney instructors must be graduates of accredited law schools and members of the Bar in good standing.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, as well as practical skills in the relevant content areas.
  • Experience in intellectual property, business, and immigration law.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Flexibility to teach evening, in person, online, and/or Saturday classes.
  • MAY BE REQUIRED TO TEACH AT OTHER LOCATIONS AND OTHER LOCATIONS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
