Start your career in public serviceThe Social Services Trainer will report to the Unit Manager for Training and Professional Development. This position is home‑based; however, it will also require statewide and overnight travel. The Training and Development Specialist 3 ensures that all mandatory new and legacy Social Services and other assigned training modules are delivered in full compliance with the most current curriculum and in accordance with designated timelines and policy.
Social Services classes are held in both virtual and physical classroom settings. The successful candidate will be motivated and passionate about changing the lives of children and families.

Job Responsibilities- Participate in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public.
- Identify training needs, providing guidance and training to customers or less experienced staff.
- Produce videos, pictures and photographs for use in support of training, marketing and presentations.
- Provide related services such as scheduling of training, maintaining records, bidding out contract work and setting up/checking equipment.
- Serve as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication.
- Possibly serve as a lead worker.
- Possibly train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day‑to‑day operations.
- Perform job duties with minimal supervision.
- Assess, plan, and coordinate training sessions for the agency; perform end‑to‑end learning and development and evaluate training outcomes.
- High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience providing educational, training or instructional services in the functional area.
- One (1) year of experience required at the lower‑level Training & Development Specialist 2 (GSP
121).
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in social work, Human Services or related field from an approved, accredited college or university and two years’ experience planning, developing, delivering or evaluating training programs or academic instruction.
- Social Services Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in the Foster Care, Resource Development and Adoption program areas is desired, but all social services program areas are considered.
- Experience in classroom management.
- Experience working with virtual learning platforms such as Microsoft Teams and associated technological equipment.
