Plan and administer the academic advising processes within a college or school. Areas supervised include recruitment, curriculum planning, registration requirements, monitoring student progress and recordkeeping. May include services provided to both undergraduate and graduate students. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with faculty, academic advising staff, students and parents.
This position typically will advise and counsel academic advising staff, students and parents. This position will supervise Academic Advisor staff.
- Oversee and participate directly in advising students regarding administrative and academic issues
- Review and approve student and curriculum related actions (e.g., change of major, course drop and withdrawal degree petitions, etc.)
- Participate in recruitment efforts on behalf of school or college
- Oversee maintenance of student records, files and databases related to academic advising
- Review academic advising policies and processes, making recommendations for changes as appropriate
- Coordinate school or college participation in external programs, as necessary
- Serve as a resource to college or school faculty on student issues
- Plan, organize and direct academic advising staff efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).
Required Experience
Five years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications- Application of specialized skills in a multi-cultural academic environment
- Master's Degree
SKILLS
This job requires knowledge and skills in supervision, organization, communications and academic administration. Additionally, customer service, multi-tasking and the use of general and specialized computer applications are required.
