Job Summary:


The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking a passionate and creative certified Drama/Theater Teacher to join our team. Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia teaching certification in Drama/Theater or a related field.

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Fine Arts while fostering students' creativity, confidence, collaboration, and self-expression through theater arts.

The ideal candidate will cultivate a structured, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment that encourages artistic exploration, performance skills, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Strong classroom management, differentiated instruction, and a commitment to student growth are essential.

The Drama/Theater Teacher will also support school productions, performances, and enrichment opportunities that showcase student talent and promote school culture and community engagement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited university (Conferred)

Certification/Licensure
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate in Drama/Theater Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all Teacher Keys Effectiveness System (TKES) standards
  • Provides content-related and developmentally appropriate instruction based on TMSA's curriculum programs
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction and theater productions
  • Nurture an academically rich and positive classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and scholar development in theater arts
  • Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons in acting, stage presence, script analysis, improvisation, technical theater, and theatrical performance
  • Direct and coordinate student performances, showcases, assemblies, and theatrical productions as assigned
  • Communicates responsibly with all students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts/Agriculture, and Math (STEAM) based instruction with instructional objectives and standards
  • Implement Project-based Learning
  • Further the objectives, goals, and outcomes of the School wide Enrichment Model (SEM) program and Leader in Me program
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephone calls, and sending email/written communications
  • Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational program
  • Adhere to all SPED, SST, 504, and IEP plans and accommodations for scholars
  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Avoid behaviors that detract from staff morale
  • Support TMSA goals, initiatives, programs, and processes
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Assistant Principals

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience collaborating with teacher teams and adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision
  • Knowledge and experience using technology for communication, presentations, performances, and instructional planning
  • Working knowledge of current research and resources in theater arts education
  • Ability to foster creativity, student engagement, and positive classroom culture through the arts
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements
