The Department of African American Studies in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences at Emory University invites applications for a residential Postdoctoral Fellow with a specialization in African American and/or African Diaspora medicine, medical practices, medical research, bioethics, or reproductive justice. The program welcomes applications from candidates whose work focuses on medicine broadly within African American and African Diasporic populations, including but not limited in geographic scope to the U.S., the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, and/or the Diaspora.
This position is based in Atlanta, GA, and must be performed fully on-site. As this is an early career position, applicants must have received their PhD no earlier than six years prior to the Final date to receive applications. The appointment term is August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027 and is non-renewable. The salary is $60,000. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach three courses (1 may be a graduate course depending on departmental needs) and work closely with the department to create programming and curricula to support our major.
All applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a related field and/or an M.D./Ph.D. with a Black Studies research concentration by the appointment start date and possess exceptional research, teaching, and writing skills.
