Job Summary
Skilled Trades Specialists is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Training to lead a Welding Training Program, overseeing instruction and operational efficiency. This role requires expertise in multiple welding processes and the ability to manage a team of up to 20 professionals, including instructors and support staff. The ideal candidate will ensure high-quality training, foster a culture of safety, and prepare students for successful careers in welding.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Management
- Oversee welding training programs covering multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Cored, etc.).
- Manage and mentor a team of up to 20 instructors and support staff, ensuring cohesive teamwork and efficient operations.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making improvements as needed to align with industry standards and workforce demands.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, accreditation requirements, and industry best practices.
- Maintain a comprehensive curriculum that covers theoretical and hands-on welding techniques. The Curriculum is in place and the program is proven.
- Ensure training materials and instructional methods align with industry certifications and employer expectations.
- Foster partnerships with industry leaders, employers, and trade organizations to enhance training relevance and job placement opportunities.
- Promote and enforce strict safety guidelines and best practices throughout all welding activities.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards related to welding operations and training environments.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and procurement of training equipment and materials.
- Track student progress, certification completions, and employment placement rates to evaluate program success.
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience required.
- Proven experience in welding training, program management, or related leadership roles.
- Expertise in multiple welding processes is a plus.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively manage teams and program operations.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards, compliance requirements, and instructional methodologies.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships with industry professionals and employers to support student job placement.
- Minimum of 5 years of welding experience in a professional setting.
- Previous experience in instructional design, training coordination, or education administration is a plus.
