Education Department Visiting Professor

The Morehouse Education Department is seeking a Visiting Professor for the Educator Preparation Program in the SY , starting August 1, 2026. The Visiting Professor works under the guidance of the Education Department Chair and with the support of the Director of Teacher Education to implement a high-quality, structured teacher preparation program that aligns with the Morehouse mission and state standards.

This role is responsible for teaching coursework and supervising students pursuing an undergraduate teaching credential in the state of Georgia, including facilitation of three courses each semester and the oversight of student field experience and certification requirements associated with those courses. The Visiting Professor will join a team of highly-engaged, student-centered practitioner-educators who are empowering our next generation of teacher-leaders.

• Terminal degree in education
• Certified teaching/leading in a K‑12 space for at least 3 years
• Third‑party coaching experience with teachers or teacher development for at least 3 years
• Successful completion of teacher certification requirements, including state licensure assessments
• Recent experience or professional development in K‑12 classrooms
• Experience teaching/leading as a credentialed teacher in a K‑12 classroom
• Experience coaching and developing teachers, meeting reporting requirements for teacher certification, and leadership in either the K‑12 or teacher certification spaces

Preference will be provided to practitioners who have experience teaching/leading Educator Preparation Programs in Georgia or other states, have demonstrated experience leading teacher development initiatives, and/or have been involved in the evaluation of teacher candidates or Educator Preparation Provider programs through a state authorizing agency. Candidates must have demonstrated experience supporting teachers in the development of curricula and instructional best practices in urban, K‑12 classrooms.

• Teach three undergraduate courses required for teacher certification in the fall and three in the spring
• Align coursework and student support to the state requirements for teacher certification
• Supervise teacher candidates in field experience and other requirements for certification associated with the courses assigned
• Submit attendance, grades, student progress reports, and other requirements as directed by the college and department chair
• Complete data requests and reports for grants and authorizer responsibilities associated with the teacher education program
• Support the Director of Teacher Education in data collection on program participants and alumni
• Provide advising to assigned students
• Fulfill college requirements for faculty attendance at events, including school‑wide functions, regular faculty meetings, and department meetings

The salary is $70,000 plus fringe benefits. This is a one‑year, nine‑month appointment that begins August 1, 2026 and may be renewed on an annual basis upon satisfactory performance against articulated goals.
