POSITION SUMMARY

Heritage Preparatory School seeks a talented individual to serve as a Lower School (2nd grade) teacher. The hallmarks of the teaching environment include excellence in academics inspired by a challenging classical curriculum with a biblical worldview; an uncluttered, disciplined atmosphere focused on high standards of behavior and Christian character; partnership with supportive parents; and strong collegiality among staff.

Title: Lower School (2nd grade) teacher
Supervisor: Alyssa Lubber, Lower School Head
Status: Full-time, beginning in August 2026
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Hours of Work: Standard work week

EXPERIENCE
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred, with exceptions for outstanding candidates with demonstrated teaching gifts.
  • Mastery of subject matters to be taught, as demonstrated by references, education, and achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Born‑again Christian, committed to the Lord, exhibiting a close and dynamic daily walk with Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with and ability to support the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Student of God's Word and ability to apply Biblical truth in speaking and counseling situations.
  • Put the oneness of the Body of Christ above membership in a particular denomination or church.
  • Understand the distinctives of Christian education and Heritage Preparatory School and be committed to those distinctives.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, faculty, and parents.
  • Have a teachable spirit and be willing to learn and grow.
  • Be well organized.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have excellent computer skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all school matters.
  • Follow through on communications and decisions.
  • Hold professional experience and qualifications that match the needs and responsibilities of the position.
  • Present a positive image of the school to others and to the community.
