Works Closely WithPastoral Team, Youth Ministry, Sister/Ethnic Churches
Responsibilities- Leadership of all matters related to Children’s Ministries, including Nursery, Sunday School for children, AWANA, and other special events for children and their families. This includes nurturing a culture of prayer, teamwork and outreach into the community.
- Planning, choosing curriculum, creating a calendar, recruiting, training, providing support and oversight.
- Leadership development:
Recruit, train and support both paid and volunteer workers. - Family pastor:
Connect with parents, communicate consistently, assimilate new families. - Community outreach. The Lord has shown us that children’s ministry is a primary means by which we will serve our neighbors. “If you reach the children you will reach their parents.” It is essential that we cultivate the expectation that children’s ministry is not limited to our church campus, but extends into the homes and neighborhoods around our church. It is the responsibility of our Children’s Ministry Director to mobilize all children’s workers to visit the homes of children whose parents are unchurched, as well as to follow up on the receptive families of children in the neighborhoods around our church.
In addition, children’s ministry sponsors several community impact special events throughout the year, including Vacation Bible School, Easter Egg Hunt, and Trunk or Treat.
A love for and understanding of children, excellent communication skills, model effective teaching and training, flexibility, adaptability, team player, soul-winner, encourager, doctrinally sound and in agreement with the doctrinal statement of One Mission, administrative and organizational abilities, visionary, leadership development, a do-what-it-takes attitude.
Training and DevelopmentAnnually attend AWANA training and an additional conference or workshop for ongoing training as desired.
Terms20–30 hours per week.
