Job Location:
Emory University – Decatur, GA 30033
Salary: $18.00 per hour (full‑time, seasonal)
Full‑time availability:
June 8–July 24, 2026, Monday‑Friday, 8:00AM–6:00PM
- Facilitate hands‑on activities that engage students in STEM concepts and create an interactive, immersive learning environment.
- Manage groups of 10–12 campers, fostering collaboration and inclusiveness.
- Demonstrate strong classroom‑management skills to maintain focused and engaging sessions.
- Collaborate with teammates to enhance the camp experience and address camper needs.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as necessary, providing updates on student progress and camp activities.
- Guide students in constructing robots with LEGO kits, Dash Robots, or Strawbees.
- Introduce programming basics using Make Code, Python, and Scratch.
- Encourage teamwork and critical thinking during design and debugging.
- Organize and facilitate robot competitions.
- Teach lessons on building structures and mechanisms such as catapults and Rube Goldberg machines.
- Connect activities to real‑world physics concepts like gravity and momentum.
- Support group projects and showcase student work.
- Lead coding basics sessions with Scratch, Make Code, Minecraft Redstone, and JavaScript.
- Guide students to create games, animations, or apps that reinforce coding concepts.
- Introduce AI and esports topics to broaden awareness of advanced fields.
- Enhance digital literacy through file management, debugging, and navigation of development environments.
- Organize sessions in basketball, soccer, flag football, tennis, and more.
- Promote physical literacy through coordination, flexibility, and endurance drills.
- Use games to highlight values such as fairness, discipline, and inclusivity.
- Facilitate mini tournaments to build camaraderie.
- 1–2 years of experience teaching, tutoring, or working in STEM‑related programs, camps, or educational settings.
- Expertise in robotics, engineering, game design, or maker‑based projects.
- Ability to work with children in Grades TK‑8.
- Conflict‑resolution skills between campers.
- Excellent communication skills with campers and parents.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry 20–50lbs. occasionally.
- Must be willing to participate in BAMS summer camp training and complete a background check before camp begins.
- Completely available Monday‑Friday from 8:00AM–6:00PM July 2026.
