Job Description & How to Apply Below

Spend your fall surrounded by forests, lakes, and curious young minds. As an Environmental Education Instructor at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps, you'll teach hands‑on science, lead outdoor adventures, and help students discover a deeper connection to the natural world. Every day is different—one moment you might be exploring a stream ecosystem, the next facilitating team‑building challenges or leading a campfire under the stars.

If you're passionate about education, the outdoors, and making a positive impact, this is an opportunity to turn your love of nature into meaningful work.

Located on a beautiful 660-acre property in Stillwater, New Jersey, Fairview Lake YMCA Camps has been connecting people to nature since 1915. Our Environmental Education program serves school groups and families through immersive outdoor learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and environmental stewardship. The fall season runs from late August through November, with opportunities for additional seasons available.

As an Environmental Education Instructor, you'll lead science‑based environmental education classes, facilitate team‑building activities, and teach recreational programs including boating, archery, hiking, campfires, and more. You'll prepare lesson materials, create safe and engaging learning environments, and help every participant experience success in the outdoors.

You'll join a welcoming community of educators, outdoor enthusiasts, artists, hikers, climbers, and adventurers who believe in learning by doing. Shared staff housing is available for the season, and you'll enjoy easy access to the Appalachian Trail, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and adventures while living just 55 miles from New York City.

Whether you're exploring a career in environmental education, taking a gap season, or looking for a meaningful outdoor job, you'll gain valuable teaching, leadership, and program facilitation experience while helping young people develop a lifelong appreciation for nature.
