Summary of Position

The Atlanta Music Project seeks trained musicians and music educators to join our faculty as Beginner Winds Coach. Beginner Winds Coach will be responsible for leading rehearsals for band students of the AMP Preparatory Band that take place on Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:15pm.

The successful candidate will possess an unyielding commitment to empowering youth to realize their possibilities through music. This position reports to the relevant program leader.

  • Learn, understand and represent the AMP philosophies for uplifting youths, families and communities through the pursuit of musical excellence
  • Teach rehearsals to Preparatory Band musicians
  • Coordinate and cooperate with the AMP Preparatory School Program Manager in keeping track of AMP students musical progress
  • Execute additional administrative tasks as necessary
Ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor and/or Master of Music (preferred)
  • Passion for music as a vehicle for positive social change
  • Experience working (music-related or other) with disadvantaged, urban/rural youth
  • Exemplary music performance ability/experience
  • Exemplary teaching ability (group lesson experience a plus)
  • Ability to inspire, work with and mentor youths ages 6 and up
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a team
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible and have a sense of humor

Notes:
The Beginner Winds Coach is a part-time, hourly ($52-65/hour) position starting in September 2026. Background check required. AMP program sites are located throughout the 30310 area code. Preparatory Band rehearsal take place from 5:00pm – 5:15pm on Wednesday evenings. Interviews and teaching auditions will take place at the AMP Center for Performance & Education 883 Dill Ave SW Atlanta, GA 30310.
