Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Psychology

The Division of Science, Technology, and Mathematics (STEM) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology. We invite applicants from all subdisciplines of psychology, however, we are particularly interested in those with experience teaching in clinical psychology and evidence of a program of research that will be pursued as a faculty member. The successful applicant's responsibilities will include teaching and advising undergraduate students, supervising student research, and participating in the life and culture of the Department.

Candidates must have a doctorate in psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) and show evidence of excellence in teaching and research.

Required Qualifications
- Candidates must have a minimum of a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D) in psychology

Preferred Education/Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of foundational and applied psychological theory, research, and practice within and across a specified subdiscipline of psychology

Ability to use and teachSPSSand/or R statistical package

Knowledge of current pedagogical best practices and evidence-based instructional strategies appropriate for undergraduate learners

Ability to design and deliver engaging, inclusive course instruction aligned with departmental learning outcomes and institutional standards

Ability to develop clear, well-organized syllabi and course materials that meet institutional requirements and support student success

Skill in assessing student learning through varied and appropriate evaluation methods, with a commitment to providing timely, constructive feedback

Ability to maintain accurate grade records and meet all institutional reporting deadlines

Skill in communicating effectively with students through scheduled office hours or equivalent means, demonstrating responsiveness and accessibility

Ability to work independently and manage course responsibilities with minimal supervision in a part-time, at-will instructional role Knowledge of and commitment to academic integrity policies and all applicable institutional regulations

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Instruction and Curriculum Design:

Develop, revise, and teach course curricula for introductory and advanced psychology courses, including designing syllabi and creating multimedia course materials.

Assessment and Evaluation:

Create, administer, and grade examinations, papers, and projects to evaluate student progress and ensure learning outcomes are met.

Student Support and Mentorship:

Provide academic advising, hold office hours for tutoring, and mentor students regarding career choices or research opportunities.

Administrative and Professional Tasks:

Participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, update student records, and stay updated on pedagogical advancements.

Research and Specialized Roles:

Some instructors (particularly in tenure-track or university roles) conduct original research, publish findings in academic journals, and apply for grants,Community and

Collaboration:

Work with colleagues to improve departmental curriculum and build relationships with community partners.
