The Teacher educates students on a daily basis, managing the classroom environment and encouraging student growth and achievement. The teacher plans and executes curriculum by setting clear objectives for lessons and projects, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse student needs, and utilizing technology for effective instruction. Teachers are responsible for creating a conducive learning environment through organized classroom management and activities while assessing student progress through tests and assignments.
They help students meet learning targets, communicate relevant information to students, staff, administrators, and parents, and manage student behavior in the classroom.
Task Title
Essential Job Functions
Instructional Design and Delivery
- Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study.
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to students' needs.
- Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Utilize technology and other materials for presentations.
- Plan and conduct activities for balanced learning.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and classroom procedures.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Organize and label materials and display students' work.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, and development.
- Administer standardized tests and interpret results.
Student Support and Guidance
- Assist students who need extra help.
- Guide and counsel students with academic or personal challenges.
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and needs.
- Provide accommodations for students with disabilities.
Collaboration and Professional Development
- Meet with other professionals to discuss students, such as when preparing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development.
- Attend professional meetings and workshops.
- Confer with staff members to plan lessons.
- Participate in staff meetings and committees.
