Curriculum Support Teacher
Assists teachers in translating required standards and benchmarks into meaningful learning experiences for students; helps teachers organize and implement the curriculum for all students; serves as a coach, model, and trainer for best practices across the curriculum.
Essential Duties- Meet with teachers to interpret and implement the District curriculum.
- Assist all teachers in organizing the curriculum and utilizing effective teaching strategies.
- Act as an advisor and special consultant to beginning teachers.
- Administer the initial screening and evaluation of new students to ensure appropriate placement.
- Participate in selection of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooks.
- Assist in planning workshops and other professional learning programs for teachers, assistants, parents, and volunteers to raise student achievement.
- Assist the principal in evaluating the instructional program, including interpreting assessment results and data analysis for instructional planning.
- Recommend ways to adjust the curriculum to meet special learning needs.
- Participate in District-wide activities such as curriculum writing, assessment development, and strategic planning.
- Periodically review instructionally related state statutes and assist the principal in monitoring local school compliance and improvements.
- Serve as a liaison between the local school and the curriculum department.
- Consult with parents regarding curriculum and student placement at the request of the principal.
- Assist with inventorying, ordering, and distributing textbooks, equipment, and other District-level instructional resources, as requested by the principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Master’s Degree.
Certification / LicensureMust hold, or be eligible to hold, a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood (P‑5). Reading Specialist certification or Reading Endorsement preferred. Completion of the Fulton County Early Literacy Phonics Pathway preferred.
Experience QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of successful elementary teaching experience required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities- Knowledgeable of the District's overall curriculum goals and experience with techniques to assist teachers and staff in reaching those goals.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for individuals and groups.
- Ability to organize programs, personnel, and activities required for productive learning in the school.
- Interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators and staff.
- Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership that results in the best environment.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues.
- Proven ability to make recommendations on various topics, detailed, controversial, simple, or complex.
- Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Normal office environment.
- Routine physical activity associated with normal office environment.
