The Math Specialist will create and lead the Kindezi Math Lab, a high‑impact instructional program designed to accelerate advanced math achievement, strengthen conceptual mastery, expand Algebra I readiness, and increase access to advanced mathematics pathways for grades 4–8.

Reports to:

Principal

Performance Responsibilities Assessment & Data Leadership

Monitor and drive student achievement using multiple data sources, including:

  • i-Ready Diagnostic and Stretch Growth targets
  • Domain‑specific Algebraic Thinking progress
  • Monthly progress monitoring assessments
  • MAP Growth assessments

Analyze student growth trends to identify intervention needs, enrichment opportunities, and readiness for advanced coursework.

Develop data‑informed instructional plans that close conceptual gaps, strengthen numeracy, and accelerate student achievement.

Monitor progress toward Algebra I readiness and broader advanced mathematics pipeline goals.

Conduct teacher efficacy surveys and leverage findings to inform coaching priorities and instructional improvements.

Student Achievement & Math Lab Leadership

Design and implement rigorous small‑group intervention, push‑in/pull‑out support, and enrichment experiences for students in grades 4–8.

Prioritize opportunities for advanced learners while addressing unfinished learning and foundational skill gaps.

Deepen conceptual understanding to prepare students for accelerated mathematics pathways, including Algebra I by 8th grade.

Build and sustain a high‑engagement Math Lab culture centered on inquiry, problem‑solving, and mathematical excellence.

Strengthen middle grades math proficiency and support continuity during critical academic transitions.

Expand student participation in advanced mathematics pathways aligned to organizational STEAM and college‑readiness goals.

Manage university partner Math Lab tutors to maximize instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.

Teacher Development & Coaching

Model exemplary inquiry‑based math instruction through live demonstration lessons and collaborative instructional leadership.

Coach teachers on differentiation, conceptual mastery, rigorous lesson design, and acceleration strategies.

Shift instructional practices from rote memorization toward deeper conceptual teaching and mathematical discourse.

Facilitate professional development aligned to organizational academic priorities.

Ensure successful transfer of Math Lab instructional practices into core classroom instruction.

Strengthen teacher effectiveness in meeting the needs of diverse learners and increasing overall mathematics achievement.

Family & Community Engagement

Build strong partnerships with families to support student achievement and long‑term academic growth.

Clearly communicate student progress, intervention strategies, and advanced pathway opportunities.

Promote family investment in mathematics achievement, enrichment, and accelerated academic pathways.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass Atlanta Public Schools background check
  • Eligibility for GaPSC‑issued clearance certificate
Required Certifications
  • Valid Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics
  • Secondary Mathematics (6–12) certification preferred
  • Gifted Endorsement preferred
Work Experience
  • Experience teaching middle grades math
  • Experience teaching Algebra I in middle grades plus
Preferred Experience
  • Middle grades mathematics instruction
  • Algebra I instruction at the middle school level
  • Teacher coaching and professional development leadership
  • Experience driving measurable academic growth
  • Experience coaching teachers preferred
Compensation / Benefits
  • Salary: $72,509 to $133,100
  • Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ Instructional Support salary schedule
  • Teacher Retirement System (TRS) pension, 403b plan, paid time off, health, vision, and dental insurance, employer‑paid life insurance, and short and long‑term disability benefits.
