Job Location:
44 Celebration Dr, Rochester, New York, 14620. Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours weekly. Compensation Range: $61,000.00 - $85,400.00.
The ISO Support and Engagement Assistant Director will work collaboratively with campus partners to design, organize and implement international student orientation for both undergraduate and graduate students. The Assistant Director will work with the Associate Director and relevant campus partners to continually assess and improve the orientation experience for international students. This role will manage the planning, communication, and implementation of relevant student programming for both undergraduate and graduate students, and campus scholars.
EssentialFunctions Program Development and Assessment
- In partnership with the Associate Director, this role will develop, plan, and coordinate the on-campus orientation experience for international students.
- Manage, plan, and coordinate pre-arrival orientation programs.
- Administer and manage orientation assessment data.
- Liaise with stakeholders and partners to communicate data trends.
- Develop and manage social, cultural and recreational programs for international students.
- Develop a comprehensive pre-arrival communication plan to welcome students.
- Manage logistics to welcome students upon arrival; coordinate airport pick-ups.
- Liaise with student groups to provide resources for student-led campus tours and student information panels.
- Work with the ISO Systems Team, to coordinate immigration check-in activities.
- Work with student liaisons, develop and implement evidence-based programming for international students.
- Attend and present at local and regional conferences including NAFSA and Boundless Together; and maintain professional membership including access to Journal for Studies in International Education to keep up with current literature.
- Facilitate and coordinate training for student mentors.
- Liaise with student mentor groups.
- Work with the Associate Director to coordinate intercultural training workshops for campus partners and stakeholders.
- Hire, train and manage student employees.
- Perform routine work review of student employees.
- Manage work schedules.
- Develop, prepare and update forms, handouts, publications, and data collection tools, as needed.
- Edit the ISO website, email blasts, social media, and other communication tools.
- Respond to inquiries and service requests from University academic units and administrators.
- Attend professional conferences and training in the field of immigration and international education.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience (international populations preferred) in higher education required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience developing campus programs for international students preferred.
- Experience planning new student and transfer orientation for international students preferred.
- Experience collaborating across campus departments in higher education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong organizational, leadership and management skills, including budget management, planning large-scale programs, program development, evaluation, assessment and marketing required.
- Proven success in managing and coordinating multiple concurrent projects required.
- Impeccable attention to detail required.
- Excellent problem-solving, written, analytical and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong public speaking skills required.
- Ability to work in a respectful and collaborative work environment and sensitivity to differences in backgrounds required.
- Proven ability to implement and utilize technology to manage programs and personnel required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Availability on nights and weekends preferred.
- Evidence of cultural competency preferred.
- Ability to plan ahead and anticipate challenges preferred.
- Willingness to collaborate to achieve desired outcomes preferred.
