Location: Atlanta, Georgia

How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

The Learning Designer II (LDII) position plays an important supporting role in the design and development of airline pilot training programs. This is accomplished using Instructional System Design, Continuous Improvement, Change Management, and Evaluation processes.

The LDII assists with the production of analysis reports, design documents, curriculum outlines, implementation plans, instructor courseware, and regulatory documentation. With a strong understanding of technical training programs, the Learning Designer II works with stakeholder groups within Pilot Learning & Development to ensure that pilot training programs are effective, efficient, compliant, and aligned with corporate safety and operational objectives.

Throughout the ADDIE process, the LDII supports internal and external audits, continuous improvement initiatives, formal research projects, incident investigations, and validations to ensure alignment of courseware with approved curricula.

LDIIs use a strong working knowledge of aviation regulations, related guidance material, corporate requirements, state and local laws governing Delta’s pilot training programs. They analyze multiple sources of data to determine training program effectiveness and efficiency and summarize results in formal reports.

With larger projects, LDIIs assist with the creation of comprehensive design documents, development plans, implementation plans, and evaluation plans. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining formal documentation of government and corporate programs, an electronic Program Audit Data Base (PADB), and a training recording/certification system.

Content creation responsibilities include the development of instructor guides, syllabi, and Learning Objectives Documents. LDIIs serve as a knowledge resource on adult learning theory, instructional methods, compliance requirements, and change management processes. Innovation is part of the role as LDIIs contribute to the development of new training concepts, techniques, and standards using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies.

LDIIs assist in investigations to resolve complex problems requiring organizational, procedural, or policy decisions. Occasional travel is required (less than 10%).
